Maersk Welcomes New Methanol-Fuelled Container Ship

AP Moller Maersk has added the Brussels Mærsk to its fleet, further expanding its line-up of methanol-enabled container ships.

The vessel is fitted with a dual-fuel engine that can operate on both conventional fuels and methanol, supporting Maersk’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2040.

The ship was named by godmother Yeon Ji Lee, Maersk Site Office Administrator, and built in collaboration with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and Everllence.

Maersk continues to take delivery of new methanol-capable vessels as part of its commitment to sustainable shipping and the transition to cleaner marine fuels.
