Wärtsilä Gas Solutions has won a contract to provide cargo handling and fuel gas supply systems for two 51,350 m³ ammonia-capable gas carriers.

The vessels are under construction at Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co. Ltd. in China and will be owned by a joint venture between Navigator Gas and Amon Maritime. The order was recorded in Wärtsilä’s Q1 2026 intake.

Designed as dual-fuel ships, the carriers will be able to run on ammonia using both two-stroke and four-stroke engine configurations, while also retaining the capability to transport LPG cargoes.

Wärtsilä said its systems are aimed at supporting the industry’s shift towards lower-emission fuels, with ammonia gaining attention as a potential carbon-free option.

Delivery of the equipment is planned for the third quarter of 2027.
