ExxonMobil has launched marine biofuel bunkering services in the UK, expanding its portfolio of biofuel blends following earlier activity in Europe and Asia.
The biofuel blends are available in Plymouth, Portland, Poole, Southampton and Portsmouth.
The company said it has been supplying bio-marine fuel blends for several years in major bunkering hubs before extending the offer to the UK market.
“After successfully supplying bio marine fuel blends in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp region (VLSFO B30, ULSFO B25) and Singapore (VLSFO B24) since the early 2020s, we have expanded our range of biofuel blends in the UK,” the company said.
ExxonMobil said its UK offering includes both low- and high-sulphur biofuel products.
“ExxonMobil’s UK offer currently includes 0.10% sulphur bio MGO and 3.50% sulphur bio HSFO. Bio HSFO and bio MGO are available to specific requirements up to B30 in UK South Coast ports,” it said.
The move comes as shipowners and charterers increasingly look to reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions while maintaining operational flexibility.
