LNG bunkering firm Titan has completed its first delivery of liquefied biomethane (bio-LNG) in Portsmouth, marking a key step in expanding renewable fuel supply for the shipping industry in the UK.
Titan supplied Brittany Ferries’ hybrid ferry Saint-Malo with bio-LNG during one of its regular bunker calls at Portsmouth International Port, using its LNG bunker vessel Optimus.
The Saint-Malo can operate on LNG, battery power, or a combination of both.
Bio-LNG, produced from renewable biogenic sources, can be used in existing LNG-fuelled ships and infrastructure without modification, offering ship operators an immediate way to lower emissions.
Titan said the operation reflects its commitment to helping customers transition to cleaner fuels and advance the decarbonisation of maritime transport.
