Stabilis Solutions has received a Letter of Recommendation (LOR) from the U.S. Coast Guard for its proposed Stabilis Galveston LNG Facility, marking a key regulatory milestone for the LNG production and bunkering project.
The recommendation follows the Coast Guard’s review of the planned waterfront LNG loading, marine transportation and LNG bunkering operations at the Port of Galveston.
According to the company, the review assessed navigation safety, vessel traffic impacts, emergency response capabilities, maritime security risks and proposed mitigation measures before the recommendation was issued to the Port of Galveston and the Galveston Fire Marshal.
Stabilis said the Galveston LNG facility is expected to begin production in the third quarter of 2028. The project also includes the delivery of the first newbuild, dedicated Jones Act-compliant LNG bunker barge serving the Galveston and Houston area.
