UK fishing boat sank after collision with cargo ship off Tyne, UK

New Delhi, November 09, 2020: UK 9.9-meter fishing boat collided with cargo ship a bout a mile off Tyne Piers, Tynemouth, UK, North sea, at 1540 UTC Nov 8. Boat was severely damaged and sank, notwithstanding salvage attempts, including towage. 2 crew were rescued, they’re safe. Cargo ship wasn’t identified, it was said only, that it’s a 1700-ton 81-meter ship, which left Blyth port, north of Tyne according to the reports published in maritimebulletin.net.

According to ships’ tracks’ analysis, it is most probably, general cargo ship TALIS (IMO 9015424), en route from Blyth to Terneuzen, Netherlands. Ship’s track and time coincide with collision site position and time. The ship reduced speed soon after the time of collision, then resumed sailing full speed. Ship’s ID is to be confirmed.
