Verde Marine Energy (VME) has completed its first physical bunker delivery of B100 Advanced FAME in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) market, supplying the fuel to the Beautriton, a vessel owned by Vertom and operated by Vertraco and ECL.

The company said the delivery marks its transition from preparing for compliance with the EU’s Renewable Energy Directive III (RED III) to actively supplying certified sustainable marine biofuels to oceangoing vessels.

According to VME, the B100 fuel can deliver up to 90% greenhouse gas emissions reductions and supports shipowners’ compliance efforts under EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime and RED III requirements.

For the supply operation, VME partnered with Sunoil Bio Fuels B.V. and IJsselland Bio Fuels B.V., loading the fuel at the Standic terminal in Dordrecht. The company added that it is now able to supply EN14214- and ISO-compliant B100 by barge and truck across the ARA region using its own logistics network.

“This first physical biofuel supply is a key step for Verde Marine Energy,” said Joe Tierney, Director and Head of Trading. “By supplying B100 ourselves, we strengthen our role as a marine fuel supplier and create a practical route for shipowners to access sustainable bunker fuels.”

Christian Sterken, Sustainability Specialist at VME, said the delivery represented a shift “from preparation to execution” from a RED III compliance perspective, adding that the company is building the operational and compliance framework for a long-term renewable fuels strategy.

VME said its aim is to make marine biofuels more practical, compliant and commercially accessible for the shipping industry.
