Blue Energy Partners has secured a double-digit million-dollar financing package from two global financial partners as it expands its international operations.
The financing comprises vessel funding, trade finance and working capital, giving the company additional capacity for physical fuel supply and trading, the company said on October 5.
Founded in Copenhagen in 2022 by Bijan Shahbaz and Lamin Bara, Blue Energy Partners now operates seven offices across four continents.
The company operates bunker barges in West Africa, supplies ISCC-certified biofuels and trades EU, UK and Swiss ETS carbon credits. It has expanded beyond its original marine fuel trading business into a broader marine energy company.
Vessel financing will support the company’s physical operations and expansion in physical supply, while trade finance and working capital will be used to increase its international trading capacity.
“From the beginning, we have had strong ambitions for Blue Energy Partners and have continuously invested in our people, our capabilities and our partnerships,” said co-founder and Group COO Bijan Shahbaz.
The company said the financing also marks a step in developing a capital structure suited to its growing international operations.
“This is an important milestone from a financial perspective and reflects the confidence our financial partners have in Blue Energy Partners and our balance sheet,” said Group CFO Kenneth Henriks.
The financing follows the company’s rebrand from Global Fuel Supply in May 2026, which it said reflected its evolution from a fuel trader into a broader marine energy company
