Glander International Bunkering has promoted Rune G. Kongstein to Commercial Director, Europe, with immediate effect, as the marine fuel company brings its European commercial operations under a more unified structure.
Kongstein will oversee the company’s marine fuel and new fuel activities across Europe, covering its operations in Norway, Switzerland and Spain.
The newly created role is aimed at improving coordination between the three markets while retaining the local expertise of each office.
Kongstein will work with local teams on regional strategies, customer relationships and commercial opportunities across Europe.
“Europe is becoming more complex for marine fuel buyers. A more coordinated approach allows us to bring together our market intelligence, relationships and supply capabilities across Europe while retaining the local expertise that remains essential in our industry,” Kongstein said.
Kongstein has more than 35 years of experience in bunkering, bunker broking, oil products and shipping.
He joined Glander International Bunkering in 2020 as Managing Director in Norway, where he oversaw the company’s teams in Oslo and Tønsberg.
During his time in the role, the Norwegian business expanded its activities in biofuels, marine urea and emissions-related services, alongside its conventional marine fuel operations.
“Each of our offices brings deep local expertise and strong customer relationships. My focus will be on connecting those strengths more closely, helping us share knowledge, identify opportunities and create even greater value for customers across Europe,” he said.
