The Port of Rotterdam has launched a market consultation to help accelerate the development of import terminals for hydrogen and hydrogen carriers such as ammonia, methanol, and liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHCs).
While several companies are already planning hydrogen-related projects, the Port Authority said that final investment decisions remain limited, delaying progress in the energy transition.
The consultation seeks to understand the key financial and non-financial obstacles preventing investment in hydrogen import infrastructure.
The process will run until 16 January 2026, after which the Port Authority will assess what role it can play in removing those bottlenecks and speeding up terminal development
