A fire broke out aboard the container ship ONE Henry Hudson while it was docked at the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro on November 21, prompting a large-scale emergency response.

The Los Angeles Fire Department, along with the US Coast Guard, Long Beach Fire Department, Los Angeles Port Police, and other agencies, responded to the incident. Nearly 200 firefighters were deployed, supported by fire boats, hazardous materials teams and aerial surveillance.

All 23 crew members were safely evacuated from the vessel and no injuries were reported.

The fire burned in hard-to-access areas below deck, complicating firefighting efforts. A mid-ship explosion knocked out power to onboard systems, leading authorities to withdraw crews from the vessel and continue firefighting from a safe distance.

Early on November 22, the ship was undocked and moved to an anchorage about one mile offshore, where suppression and salvage operations continue. Shelter-in-place orders for nearby communities were later lifted, while air quality monitoring remains ongoing.
