Brazilian firm Vale has joined the Global Ethanol Association as a founding member, reflecting its work on using ethanol as a marine fuel.
The company has been involved in trials and deployments of ethanol in maritime operations as part of efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions from shipping.
The association said it will work with Vale to support the development and wider adoption of ethanol as a marine fuel.
The non-profit organisation plans to promote the use of ethanol as a marine fuel in shipping. Other founding members of the Global Ethanol Association include WinGD, Berkel AHK, Edeniq and now Vale.
