US authorities have seized the Russian-flagged oil tanker Bella 1 in the North Atlantic for alleged violations of US sanctions.
The US Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security said the vessel was seized pursuant to a warrant issued by a US federal court. The operation was carried out in coordination with the Department of Defense.
According to the announcement, the tanker was tracked by the US Coast Guard cutter Munro before authorities moved to take the vessel into custody in the North Atlantic.
