CSSC Jiangnan Shipyard has secured an order for four 175,000 cbm LNG carriers, with deliveries scheduled between 2028 and 2029.
The contract was signed on January 30 by CSSC Jiangnan Shipyard and China Shipbuilding Industry Trade Co., Ltd.
The vessels will be built at Jiangnan and, upon delivery, leased on long-term charter to Shell (Singapore) Trading Pte Ltd.
Minsheng Financial Leasing will act as shipowner, with Shandong Ocean Energy handling commercial management and Shell International Shipping responsible for technical operations.
Jiangnan said the project brings together leading players across the LNG value chain and marks a further step in its international expansion in large LNG carrier construction. Shandong Ocean Energy, a subsidiary of Shandong Ocean Group, has previously ordered two LNG carriers and 16 very large ethane carriers from the yard.
The vessels will feature Jiangnan’s latest LNG carrier design, including a new twin-tail fin hull form and WinGD XDF 2.2 dual-fuel engines, aimed at improving fuel efficiency while reducing methane slip and overall emissions.
