OOCL has named the second vessel in a seven-ship series of 24,000 TEU methanol dual-fuel container vessels as the carrier continues to build out its lower-emission fleet.
The naming ceremony for OOCL Grace was held at Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co. (NACKS), where the vessel was built. Annetta Duan, Global Logistics Director of Hayco Group, performed the naming.
The vessel follows OOCL Wisdom, the first ship in the series, which was named in May and completed its first green methanol bunkering in July before beginning its maiden voyage to Europe.
OOCL said the successive delivery of the vessels will support the expansion, renewal and digitalisation of its fleet, while allowing it to adjust capacity and network deployment.
The seven vessels are currently the world’s largest methanol dual-fuel container ships, according to OOCL.
