Singapore and Brazil are joining forces to develop a green shipping corridor that could link Brazil’s renewable energy resources with Singapore’s established bunkering network.
The countries have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the Singapore-Brazil Green and Digital Shipping Corridor (GDSC).
The initiative will look at developing supply chains for zero- and near-zero greenhouse gas emission marine fuels. Brazil brings renewable energy production capabilities, while Singapore offers its position as the world’s largest bunkering port and a major hub for maritime innovation.
The partnership will also cover digitalisation, with both sides exploring information exchanges aimed at improving port and maritime operations.
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said Singapore and Brazil will work with industry on research, development and the adoption of emerging maritime technologies and solutions.
