AP Moller Maersk has welcomed Bangkok Mærsk as the latest addition to its growing methanol-enabled fleet, marking another step forward in the company’s journey towards more sustainable shipping solutions.

At 17,480 TEU, the new dual-fuel containership was christened in a traditional naming ceremony by Crewing Newbuilding Manager Daniella Butler, who served as the vessel’s godmother.

Bangkok Mærsk is the 16th vessel in Maersk’s methanol-capable fleet and will operate on the company’s East–West network, serving customers on key global trade lanes alongside sister ships Berlin Mærsk and Beijing Mærsk.

The addition of Bangkok Mærsk underlines Maersk’s commitment to decarbonising container shipping through investment in alternative fuels and new vessel technologies.

The company continues to expand its methanol-enabled fleet as part of its long-term strategy to deliver lower-emission logistics solutions across its global operations.

With each new vessel, Maersk moves closer to its 2040 net zero greenhouse gas emissions target while ensuring customers benefit from both reliable service and a reduced environmental footprint.
