Avenir LNG has completed the first ship-to-ship (STS) LNG bunkering operation for a ferry in Klaipėda, marking a milestone for alternative marine fuels in Lithuania.
The operation took place on 29 March 2026, when the LNG bunker vessel Avenir Ascension supplied fuel to the dual-fuel RoPax ferry Peter Pan, owned and operated by TT-Line.
The companies have an established relationship, with Avenir LNG supporting TT-Line’s LNG and bioLNG supply across ports in Sweden and Germany in recent years. The latest operation extends that collaboration into Port of Klaipėda, strengthening the regional fuel supply infrastructure.
The milestone represents the first STS LNG bunkering of a ferry in Lithuania and builds on more than 50 LNG bunkering and transport operations Avenir LNG has conducted in Klaipėda.
The company said the move enhances security of supply for alternative marine fuels in the Baltic region, as LNG continues to play a role in shipping’s emissions reduction efforts.
