Swedish firm Cetasol is inviting ferry operators to take part in a Q4 2025 trial of its AI-powered iHelm tool, designed to cut bunker consumption and emissions.

The company says iHelm delivers real-time guidance to captains on optimising fuel use, with potential savings of 10–25%.

The system also uploads performance data to a cloud-based dashboard, providing owners and shoreside staff with full fleet oversight.

As part of the Ferry Program, operators will install iHelm on board and provide input to help shape new functions tailored specifically for ferries. At the end of the trial, participants will have the option to purchase the system at a reduced rate, without any binding obligation.

Cetasol says the final version of iHelm will integrate a wide range of operational data, including propulsion signals, vessel load, trim, draft, weather, currents, and speed-through-water.
