CM Energy has secured ISCC EU certification for its green methanol, clearing the way for the fuel to enter the European market.
The certification was awarded in Hong Kong on November 18 during a maritime industry forum, where the company officially launched its green methanol project.
The company said the fuel can cut greenhouse gas emissions by more than 70% compared with conventional methanol.
Initial production will total 20,000–30,000 tonnes per year, with first deliveries planned for December 2025. Output is expected to rise to around 60,000 tonnes annually after technology upgrades.
The green methanol is produced in partnership with Shandong Energy Group using a combination of existing coal-to-methanol infrastructure and biomass.
CM Energy said the certification marks a key step in its plans to expand green methanol supply for the global shipping market.
