China-based container shipping group COSCO Shipping has placed orders for 12 LNG dual-fuel container ships.
The contract for the 18,000-TEU vessels was signed on January 13 with Jiangnan Shipyard and China Shipbuilding Trading.
Each ship is priced at about RMB 1.40 billion ($201 million), putting the total order value at roughly $2.4 billion, with deliveries scheduled between 2028 and 2029.
The order adds to a growing pipeline of LNG-capable newbuildings.
