US logistics and shipping company Crowley has added a new LNG-fuelled container ship to its fleet, strengthening services between the US, Caribbean and Central America.
The 1,400 TEU vessel, Tiscapa, departed the Port of Jacksonville last week on its first commercial voyage to the Caribbean Basin, the company said. After an initial transition period, the ship will begin regular service linking the US, Dominican Republic and Central America with direct cargo connections.
Tiscapa is the third in a four-ship series chartered to Eastern Pacific Shipping. The final vessel is expected to enter service in August.
Crowley said the LNG-powered vessels support its strategy to reduce emissions while enhancing reliability in regional trade.
