Engine builder Everllence has signed a strategic agreement with Hyundai Group companies to develop a next-generation, medium-sized gas carrier powered by an ammonia-fuelled dual-fuel engine.

The project will combine Everllence’s B&W G50ME-LGIA two-stroke engine with the shipbuilding expertise of HD Hyundai Mipo Dockyard and the engineering capabilities of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries-Engine Machinery Division.

Senior executives from both sides formalised the partnership at the Gastech 2025 event.

“This partnership represents a major leap forward in the maritime industry’s transition toward zero-carbon propulsion, said Christian Ludwig, Head of Two-Stroke Sales & Promotion at Everllence.

“By combining Everllence’s deep expertise in dual-fuel technologies with HMD’s world-class shipbuilding capabilities, we are setting a new benchmark for sustainable vessel design and innovation. Together, we are not just building ships — we are shaping the future of clean energy at sea.”
