Belgium-based Exmar NV has announced an order for four newbuild Suezmax tankers, with an option to order four more, at South Korea’s Daehan Shipbuilding Co. Ltd.
The 157,200 DWT vessels will be capable of transporting about 1 million barrels of oil each and will be fitted with scrubbers.
Scrubber systems allow ships to continue using high-sulphur fuel oil (HSFO) while complying with the International Maritime Organisation’s 0.5% sulphur cap by reducing emissions to the required limit.
The first delivery is scheduled for the third quarter of 2027 from Daehan’s Mokpo shipyard.
