Bureau Veritas (BV) has awarded an Approval in Principle (AiP) to China’s Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding for its new 25,000 cbm LNG bunker vessel, with the certificate presented during Gastech 2025 in Milan.

Developed in collaboration with GTT, the vessel uses the MARK III membrane containment system with enhanced pressure technology that doubles endurance time, offering more efficient and reliable LNG bunkering for next-generation ships.

The 160-metre vessel is designed to balance safety and operational efficiency, with BV confirming compliance through a comprehensive review of its technical documentation and safety features.

“LNG plays an important role in reducing emissions today, and we are proud to work with Hudong-Zhonghua on advancing the next generation of LNG bunker vessels and support the industry in achieving its decarbonization goals,” said Matthieu de Tugny, Executive Vice President, Industrials and Commodities at Bureau Veritas.
