German commodities trading firm HMS Bergbau AG has entered the global marine fuel and lubricants market, completing its first transactions and setting up a new international trading team.

The company said on 11 September that the move marks a key step in its diversification strategy. The expansion is aimed at strengthening its market presence, particularly in Asia and South America.

HMS Bergbau’s new marine energy services include round-the-clock operational and technical support, guaranteed supply, resale to major ports worldwide, and customised solutions for both coastal and deep-sea vessels.

The company is offering a range of products from conventional fuels such as VLSFO and MGO to alternative options including advanced biofuels, LNG, LPG, ammonia and methanol.

“The expansion of our trading activities to include marine fuels and lubricants is a significant step for HMS Bergbau AG,” said Dennis Schwindt, CEO of HMS Bergbau AG.

“We are combining our proven strength in global commodities trading with the excellent expertise of our new team. This positions us strongly in further dynamically growing and forward-looking market segments.”
