Iran has ruled out plans to lay mines in the Persian Gulf despite ongoing conflict with the US and Israel, according to Tasnim News Agency.
A spokesperson for Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters said Iran maintains full control over the Strait of Hormuz and surrounding waters, removing any need for such measures.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran confidently has the initiative in the Persian Gulf and the territorial waters of Oman Sea and is very intelligently and powerfully controlling the Strait of Hormuz,” the spokesperson said.
“Therefore, due to our dominance and sufficient power, there will be no need to lay mines in the Persian Gulf, and when necessary, we will use all available means to ensure security.”
The spokesperson added that Iran’s armed forces, in coordination with regional countries, are capable of securing the area without external involvement.
The comments come amid escalating hostilities, following reported strikes and retaliatory attacks involving missiles and drones.
