Klaipėda State Seaport Authority said the polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) electrolyser, manufactured at the IMI Remosa plant in Italy’s Cagliari, had passed tests and will now be shipped to Lithuania for installation and on-site trials.

“This milestone brings us much closer to finishing a unique project in the region and reducing our environmental footprint,” said Algis Latakas, General Director of the Port Authority.

Once operational next year, the facility will produce up to 127 tonnes of green hydrogen annually, part of which will fuel Lithuania’s first hydrogen-powered vessel, now nearing completion.

Construction of the €12 million project is set to be completed by February 2026, with half of the cost covered by EU NextGenerationEU funding.
