Maersk Names New Dual-Fuel Methanol Container Ship Barcelona Maersk

A.P. Moller-Maersk has named Barcelona Maersk, the sixth and final vessel in its series of 17,480-TEU dual-fuel methanol container ships.

The vessel was built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in collaboration with marine engine maker Everllence and was named at a ceremony held in Ulsan, South Korea.

Berit Vincentz Andersen, senior communications advisor to Maersk’s Fleet Management & Technology team, served as the ship’s godmother at the event, which was attended by the vessel’s crew, Maersk representatives and partners from the shipyard.
