A.P. Moller–Maersk has conducted a further controlled transit through the Red Sea as it reviews conditions for restoring East–West container services via the Suez Canal.
The company said the US-flagged container vessel Maersk Denver, operating on its Middle East–Indian Subcontinent service, sailed through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and into the Red Sea on January 11–12.
The passage follows a similar voyage by Maersk Sebarok in December 2025, which was the carrier’s first test transit through the area since rerouting vessels around the Cape of Good Hope due to regional security risks.
Maersk said safety measures were applied throughout the voyage and that customers with cargo onboard were notified directly.
The liner operator said it is closely tracking developments in the region and assessing whether security conditions are sufficient to support regular operations.
“Assuming that security thresholds continue to be met, we will continue our stepwise approach towards gradually resuming navigation along the East–West corridor via the Suez Canal and the Red Sea,” the company said, adding that no further sailings have been scheduled at this stage.
