Methanol producer Methanex has strengthened its global methanol bunkering network with new agreements in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) hub and South Korea.
In the ARA, the firm will work with TankMatch to deliver barge-to-ship supply.
This builds on the methanol bunkering setup formerly run by OCI Global and UniBarge, which Methanex assumed following its acquisition of OCI, expanding capacity in one of the world’s busiest fuel markets.
In South Korea, Methanex has partnered with Alpha Maritime and Hyodong Shipping to provide last-mile operations and support the country’s role as a future methanol bunkering hub.
“These partnerships allow us to safely and reliably fuel ships with methanol in two of the busiest global trade corridors that are pivotal to maritime decarbonization,” said Mark Allard, senior vice president of low carbon solutions at Methanex.
Methanex said its long experience operating methanol-fuelled tankers through its subsidiary Waterfront Shipping, along with its safety and technical guidance, will underpin operations with new partners.
