Molslinjen has signed a contract for its third fully electric mega-catamaran for the Kattegat, again partnering with Australian shipbuilder Incat Tasmania.

With three battery-powered ferries now on order, the company says it is undertaking the world’s largest maritime electrification project to date.

The vessels will be deployed from 2027 onwards and will ultimately make Molslinjen’s entire Kattegat operation emission-free, the firm said.

Molslinjen is continuing to scale its investment in high-capacity, zero-emission ferry technology as part of Denmark’s broader push to decarbonise short-sea transport. The company said the newbuild programme represents a major step in delivering large-scale green transition across its network
