Shell has marked its first LNG bunkering operation at Portland on the UK’s south coast.
The dual-fuel shuttle tanker Frida Knutsen received LNG at the port last month, according to Dexter Belmar, Shell’s general manager and head of global downstream LNG.
The delivery was supported by Eni Trade & Biofuels, Enilive and the Port of Portland.
Shell has been fuelling the Knutsen Group vessel since its introduction three years ago, previously carrying out operations in Rotterdam and Skaw.
“We’ve primarily bunkered this fleet in Rotterdam and Skaw, and we’re proud to now include Portland in our growing bunkering network,” Belmar said in a LinkedIn post on Wednesday.
With the addition of Portland, Shell now supplies LNG bunkers across 28 locations in 13 countries.
The move comes as LNG gains a larger role in shipping’s transition to lower emissions.
