The Ministry of Transport of Singapore and the Ministry of Transport of China have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the Singapore–China Green and Digital Shipping Corridor (GDSC).
The MoU was signed on 19 October by Jeffrey Siow, Singapore’s Acting Minister for Transport, and Liu Wei, China’s Minister of Transport.
The new agreement elevates the two countries’ GDSC collaboration to the national level, expanding on earlier municipality and provincial corridors with Tianjin (2023) and Shandong (2024).
Both nations will work with industry stakeholders to advance maritime decarbonisation, enhance port and supply-chain efficiency, and develop supporting technologies, infrastructure, and standards for a sustainable and connected maritime ecosystem.
The partnership will also promote digitalisation in maritime operations, encouraging data-driven systems to boost efficiency, resilience, and transparency across the value chain.
Singapore and China aim to leverage their respective strengths in manufacturing, supply chains, regulation, and finance to drive innovation and the implementation of green and digital initiatives in the maritime sector.
The creation of the Singapore–China GDSC reflects both countries’ shared commitment to innovation, enhanced maritime connectivity, and the global shift towards a sustainable and resilient shipping industry.
