Solvang Gas Carriers AS, a Norway-based owner and operator of LPG carriers, has agreed to acquire three very large gas carriers (VLGCs) built in 2019 from subsidiaries of Vitol.
The vessels involved are the Vivit Altais (80,500 cbm), Vivit Dubhe (84,200 cbm) and Vivit Fornax (84,200 cbm), with delivery scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.
Under the terms of the transaction, all three ships will be time-chartered back to Vitol International Shipping, the shipping arm of Vitol, a Switzerland-based energy and commodities trading group.
Following the acquisition, Solvang said its fleet size will increase to 16 VLGCs once seven additional newbuildings currently on order are delivered between March 2026 and February 2027. Of the total fleet, 12 vessels will be of Panamax size.
The company said the transaction forms part of its strategy to expand its modern LPG carrier fleet and strengthen long-term charter coverage.
