Danish pump and gas solutions specialist Svanehoj has acquired Germany’s KOHO Kompressorsysteme, expanding its offering to the gas tanker market.
The deal closed on 1 October 2025. KOHO, based in Hagen, designs and builds reciprocating compressor systems for hydrogen, hydrocarbons, and other gas applications.
The family-owned firm employs about 40 people, who will stay on under the new ownership.
“This is a logical expansion for Svanehoj in the gas tanker segment,” said CEO Søren Kringelholt Nielsen. “By acquiring KOHO, we can now include high-quality compressors and spare parts in our offering.”
KOHO has worked with Svanehoj before on major shipbuilding projects, including Northern Lights’ LCO₂ carriers and Höegh Autoliners’ ammonia-ready Aurora class vessels.
KOHO’s managing directors André and Björn Hörter will continue to lead the company under Svanehoj.
The move marks Svanehoj’s second acquisition this year, after it bought Dutch firm European Pump Services in January. The group now employs 550 people worldwide.
