Tallink Group is ramping up efforts to decarbonise its Baltic Sea operations, beginning the transition to bio-LNG across its shuttle fleet.

The company confirmed that its newest vessel, MyStar, has already completed six bio-LNG bunkering operations in recent months.

The bio-LNG has been supplied by regional energy firm Elenger.

Tallink CEO Paavo Nõgene said the collaboration has gone smoothly and that bio-LNG use will expand as supply and pricing allow.

“Our goal is to fully replace the LNG needs of both MyStar and Megastar with bio-LNG within the next year,” he said.

Tallink noted that passengers will not see any increase in ticket prices as part of the fuel transition.
