German maritime firm TT-Line has signed a contract for the construction of a new RoPax vessel, marking another milestone in the company’s long-term sustainability strategy.

The newbuild, approximately 240 meters in length and designed to carry around 1,000 passengers, will be equipped with an advanced LNG-hybrid propulsion system combined with a shore power system. The configuration further strengthens TT-Line’s zero-emission ambitions, particularly during port stays.

The vessel, referred to as Green Ship 2.0, builds on operational experience gained from the company’s existing Green Ships, Nils Holgersson and Peter Pan. It will incorporate technical upgrades and an optimised design aimed at improving fuel efficiency, reducing emissions and enhancing passenger comfort.

Planned features include upgraded cabin concepts and newly designed, more spacious outdoor areas.

The project continues TT-Line’s long-standing cooperation with China Merchants Jinling Shipyard and underscores the operator’s ambition to further modernise its fleet while advancing low-emission ferry operations.
