Union Bulk becomes shipowner with first bulker buy

New Delhi, November 03,  2023 :  Danish dry bulk shipping and freight trading company operating primarily in the handysize and handymax segments Union Bulk has become a shipowner following the acquisition of a 28,386-dwt bulker.

The company was established in March 2019 and was founded by Anders Svarrer and Jens Boesen. Since its inception, it worked as a dry cargo vessel operator and freight trading company with an operated fleet of between 15 and 25 vessels.

In a social media post on Thursday, Union Bulk announced that the acquisition of the 2011-built handy bulker Hinase, previously owned by Shinto Kisen, was its first foray into the shipowning business.

In the post, Union Bulk added that the Imabari-built bulker was previously on a charter with the Danish firm. No financial details of the deal were revealed. VesselsValue puts the vessel price at just over $12m.  according to the reports published in splash247.com .

According to VesselsValue data, Shinto Kisen now owns only one more vessel – the 2019-built, 1,200-dwt small tanker Asashi, constructed by Ura Kyodo.
