Vilma Oil Med, the Spanish bunkering firm and part of global marine fuel supplier TFG Marine, has taken delivery of the bunker tanker Maya Cosulich, marking a fleet expansion in the Port of Ceuta and the Strait of Gibraltar.
The 7,990-dwt IMO II chemical tanker completed its maiden voyage from Singapore in December 2025 and has now begun inaugural operations in the region. The vessel is capable of carrying methanol and biofuels up to B100 and is fitted with methanol dual-fuel capability, as well as ISO 22192-certified mass flow meter technology.
The addition is expected to improve Vilma Oil Med’s flexibility in supplying vessels both at anchorage and alongside in Ceuta, one of the Mediterranean’s key bunkering locations.
A welcome ceremony for the tanker was attended by port authority representatives, the harbour master and members of the local port community.
Ernesto Fernandez-Maquieira, Director of Vilma Oil Med, said:
“The arrival of Maya Cosulich represents another significant step forward for our operations in Ceuta and the wider Strait of Gibraltar. This next-generation vessel enhances our ability to deliver safe, efficient and transparent marine fuel supply, while also positioning us to support the growing demand for alternative fuels such as methanol and advanced biofuels. It underlines our long-term commitment to the port community and to maintaining the highest operational standards in the region.
