BYD Energy Storage and marine battery specialist Corvus Energy have entered into a memorandum of understanding to advance the development of next-generation energy storage solutions for the maritime sector.
The agreement brings together BYD Energy Storage’s large-scale production capabilities and technological leadership in lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries with Corvus Energy’s experience in designing, integrating and supplying battery energy storage systems for marine applications.
The companies said the collaboration is intended to speed up product development, broaden global market reach and deliver safe, high-efficiency battery systems tailored to the needs of shipping.
“This MoU represents a significant step forward in our ambition to remain the market leader in high-quality marine battery systems,” said Ole Jacob Irgens, head of EMEA and Asia at Corvus Energy. “By combining Corvus’ deep maritime understanding and extensive experience in marine battery installations with BYD Energy Storage’s scalability, innovation in LFP technology, and strong global supply chain, we are well positioned to bring new products to market faster and meet the evolving needs of the shipping industry.”
Under the agreement, the two companies will seek to coordinate global market activities to support wider adoption of marine energy storage systems, as shipowners look to reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency.
Corvus Energy will act as the system and route-to-market partner for marine applications, while BYD Energy Storage will contribute battery technology development and supply, with further details to be announced in due course.
