Corvus Energy has received a record order from Remontowa Shipbuilding in Poland to supply battery systems for seven fully electric ferries for Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL).
The contract is the largest in Corvus Energy’s history by USD value and forms part of CMAL’s Small Vessel Replacement Programme to modernise its ferry fleet and cut emissions.
Each of the seven Loch-class ferries will be equipped with a 5.7 MWh Corvus Dolphin NxtGen energy storage system, giving a total installed capacity of about 40 MWh.
Deliveries will begin in 2026 and run through to 2028.
The vessels are being designed and built through an international collaboration, with ABB acting as system integrator, and will operate on routes along Scotland’s west coast, providing zero-emission transport for island communities.
