MSC has started bringing some of its container ships back through the Suez Canal as it cautiously restores selected East-West services through the Red Sea.
The carrier is reintroducing Suez transits on a limited number of eastbound and westbound services following a review of security and operational conditions in the region.
The first vessel under the revised plans was MSC TINA, which departed Mersin on August 20 on the eastbound Asia-Mediterranean Tiger service. Further sailings followed on August 24, including MSC MICHEL CAPPELLINI from Abu Kir and MSC JOSEFINA from Jeddah.
The return will also cover westbound services, with MSC ANNA departing Singapore on August 24 and MSC BERYL scheduled to leave Vizhinjam on August 31.
MSC said the changes will be introduced service by service, with schedules and booking confirmations updated progressively.
The carrier will continue to monitor conditions in the Red Sea and said contingency arrangements remain in place to reroute individual voyages if necessary.
