Argentina’s customs authorities have issued a new resolution that removes long-standing limits on bunker volumes for ships departing the country.
From 1 January 2026, vessels will be permitted to take bunkers up to their maximum tank capacity, rather than being previously restricted to fuel required only for the next port of call.
Under the new rules, Argentine Customs may authorize full bunkering when it is carried out at the final port or operational point before a vessel sails directly to foreign ports, or at another location consistent with the declared voyage itinerary.
Bunker quantities must be reasonable, taking into account vessel type, fuel type and tank capacity, and supplies must be delivered directly into the ship’s fuel tanks for its own use. Once bunkering is completed at the initial point, no further bunker loads will be allowed at other Argentine ports.
