Marine fuel supplier Monjasa has reflagged one of its tankers to the UAE, marking the start of a wider transition towards a fully UAE-flagged regional fleet.
The 9,600 dwt tanker Monjasa Shaker was officially reflagged on 9 April 2026 during a scheduled drydocking at Dubai Maritime City.
“Reflagging Monjasa Shaker to the UAE registry supports our core operations in the region, where our fleet serves customers daily across multiple UAE ports. It also reflects our strong connection to the country following 20 years of maritime operations in the Emirates,” said Anders Østergaard, Group CEO.
The move places Monjasa among the first international shipowners to register tanker tonnage under the UAE flag.
The company said the reflagging is the first step in a broader plan that will also see Monjasa Server (9,600 dwt) and Monjasa Shipper (7,991 dwt) transition to the UAE registry.
The drydocking campaign, carried out at Albwardy Damen, includes a third-class renewal alongside technical upgrades such as deck and engine overhauls, hull blasting, repainting and advanced coating systems aimed at improving efficiency and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Monjasa added that the work is expected to be completed later this month, positioning the vessel for its next round of regional operations.
