Engineering group Alfa Laval has agreed to acquire maritime software provider NAVTOR for $700 million in an all-cash deal to strengthen its digital fleet solutions business.

The acquisition will bring NAVTOR’s e-navigation, vessel-performance and onboard workflow solutions into Alfa Laval’s maritime portfolio.

NAVTOR will become part of Alfa Laval’s Ocean Division, with its platform integrated alongside existing digital solutions StormGeo and PortChain.

The combined portfolio will cover onboard software, fleet performance monitoring and route optimisation. The acquisition is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals.

Headquartered in Norway, NAVTOR employs around 400 people across 13 offices and serves customers in more than 90 countries. Founded in 2011, the company is expected to generate revenue of approximately $194m in 2026.

“This acquisition will expand its digital offering at a time when real-time decision-making is increasingly complex,” said Alfa Laval President and CEO Tom Erixon.

Alfa Laval said the transaction would be neutral to group margins in the short term. It also disclosed that NAVTOR had identified and reported certain compliance matters following an internal review, prompting an enhanced internal control and compliance programme.
