New York-listed Greek bulker owner Diana Shipping is selling its second ship this year after having struck a deal with an unnamed buyer for one of its nine capesizes.

The Semiramis Paliou-led company, which saw net income drop to $9.4m in Q4 2023 from $25.7m in the corresponding period of 2022, is shipping out the 2009-built Houston for $23.3m.

Diana said the 177,729 dwt ship, currently on charter with EGPN Bulk Carrier through to July 1 and August 31 at $13,000 per day, should exit the currently 41-strong fleet by September.

In January, Diana sold its 2006-built panamax Artemis for $13m and for exit in March. It also recently firmed up its contract for a pair of methanol dual-fuel kamsarmax newbuilds delivering in 2027 and 2028.  According to the reports published in splash247.com .

Despite higher asking prices for secondhand capes, brokers have recorded over 50 ships changing hands between October 2023 and February 2024, with more than 20 sales this year alone.
