MSC in for Zodiac resales

Prized Korean newbuild slots are changing hands for big prices. Resales are happening as owners seek earlier delivery slots with South Korea’s top three shipbuilders all reporting record orderbooks that stretch into 2027, and all of them are also struggling to keep up with their production schedules.

Maersk Broker is reporting a change of ownership has taken place for five 15,000 teu LNG dual fuel ships under construction at Hanwha Ocean, originally contracted by Zodiac Maritime. The Danish broker suggests Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC), the world’s largest containerline, has purchased the quintet scheduled for delivery in 2025. No price has been revealed.  According to the reports published in splash247.com .

On Friday, Splash reported Øystein Kalleklev-led Avance Gas had sealed a resale deal for two VLGCs for $120m each, ships it originally contracted for $78m back in April 2021.
