Spanish energy company Repsol has started commercial deliveries of co-processed marine fuels containing renewable content at the port of Algeciras, expanding its low-carbon bunker fuel offering in the Mediterranean.

The launch follows the first commercial voyage of Repsol’s new bunkering vessel Bahía Candela, which loaded co-processed fuel at the Petronor Refinery before supplying customers in Algeciras. The vessel is chartered from Mureloil.

Repsol said the move supports maritime decarbonisation by integrating renewable feedstocks such as oils and residues into conventional refining processes. The resulting fuel can be used with existing engines and infrastructure, offering a lower-carbon alternative without requiring modifications to vessels or port facilities.

Designed for marine fuel supply operations, Bahía Candela features multiproduct capabilities, diesel-electric propulsion and advanced energy storage systems aimed at improving efficiency and reducing emissions during bunkering operations.
