SMT Shipping has implemented Spinergie’s Smart Fleet Management (SFM) reporting system across its fleet, as the bulk carrier operator looks to reduce administrative burden on crews and improve the accuracy of onboard data.
Around 30 SMT Shipping vessels are now using Spinergie’s digital reporting tools across global operations.
The company said the system removes the need for crews to repeatedly enter the same data into multiple forms, while supporting compliance with a growing range of regulatory and commercial reporting requirements.
Spinergie said its reporting platform is designed to standardise data capture across fleets through guided manual entry, automatic data population and quality control checks at the point of input. Once data is entered, it is automatically shared with SMT Shipping’s internal teams, as well as weather routing providers, charterers and third-party verifiers.
The company said this approach significantly reduces duplication, follow-up queries and verification cycles, while improving overall data consistency.
Fleet feedback on the system has been positive, with crews highlighting time savings and ease of use.
“The program has streamlined data entry by allowing information to be recorded once and reflected across multiple reports. This has significantly reduced duplication and improved consistency of the data,” said the master of M/V Caline C.
Jack Madden, UK team lead – client success at Spinergie, said reducing reporting workloads remains a core focus.
“When you make life easier for the crew, you set the foundation for a more efficient and safer fleet,” he said.
